Mine would not be pink, and I'd use i-cord, not ribbon

But then I am not a cute teenager either...

This is from www.lionbrand.com, which has lots and lots of free patterns. They suggest the "Landscapes" yarn. There are lots of options...

"Potato Chip" Scarf

Knit 2 rows
Repeat these three rows
Knit in front and back of each stitch
Knit 1 row
Bind off loosely

I wonder how this stitch is done

This is the swatch pictured for Noro Silver Thaw yarn on www.herrschners.com.

I don't understand how a stitch like this would be made.It looks much more like weaving than knitting.

Imagine this in black mohair...

I have 18 skeins of vintage black mohair I bought on ebay (about 1080 yards). I am thinking of knitting a sweater shaped like this from it.

Seems that if I got the right size needles so the gauge was correct I could use this pattern. It looks easy enough...

Useful knitting calculations online (e.g. yardage needed).

This is very useful. Thanks to Judi.

My cats want me to make this and I agree!

I want to knit (and felt) this. I have some very old yarn that would work perfectly.

This site has the instructions plus lots of pictures of it being used by cats (and more than a few dogs) as it was knitted by various people: http://wendyknits.net/knit/kittybedgallery.htm
